An industry-standard, low-voltage audio power amplifier designed for use in low-voltage consumer applications, globally known as LM386, housed in a compact, breadboard-friendly 8-pin DIP (Through-Hole) package. To make the external part count as low as possible, the gain is internally set to 20 (26 dB), but by adding an external resistor and capacitor between pins 1 and 8, the gain can be easily adjusted to any value up to 200 (46 dB). Operating smoothly on battery power (4V to 12V) with low quiescent current drain and minimal distortion, it is the ultimate, classic component for portable music players, AM-FM radio amplifiers, intercoms, sensor audio triggers, and general-purpose DIY audio prototyping.
