An industry-standard, low-power trickle-charge timekeeping chip, globally known as DS1302, housed in a compact, breadboard-friendly 8-pin DIP (Through-Hole) package. This Real-Time Clock (RTC) IC contains a real-time clock/calendar and 31 bytes of static RAM, communicating with microcontrollers via a simple 3-wire serial interface. It tracks seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year information, with automatic end-of-month adjustments including corrections for leap years. Operating at an extremely low current (less than 300nA at 2.0V), it is the quintessential component for digital clocks, data loggers, scheduling systems, and persistent time-based microcontroller designs.
